Before we dive in, I’d like you experience a sense of calm. To experience a quick meditation session, click the video below.
I have been using Headspace for more than two years, and coincidentally, this has been one of my first tools towards mindfulness.

Our devices fight for our attention. Within these devices lie applications that also have the same agenda. It took me a while to realize that this was wrong. I wanted to use my devices and applications on my own terms. No algorithm was going to decide that. ⛔

In this fight for my attention I was accompanied by some ideas, applications and portals that equipped me to have a better chance. You’re here because you probably feel the same. 🧘‍♂️

Below you will find applications and other tools that I personally use because of the impact they’ve had on me.

Headspace for guided meditation.
I’ve been consistently practicing meditation for at least two years. Headspace is what I started with and I saw no reason to change. You can try other apps like Calm or Oak. There are several, so try a few and pick what appeals to you the most.

Forest for a distraction free phone.
To quote them “Forest is an app that helps you stay focused on the important things in life.”
This app is basically a timer. It plants a tree based on the set time. Leaving the app during this period will cause the tree to wither. It works well (at least for me) and I’ve gotten a lot of work done thanks to it. Oh, they also let you plant real trees.

A Kindle to reduce eye strain while reading (or a real book 🤷‍♂️)

White Noise/ Work Playlist with noise cancelling earphones/ headphones. I personally use the Sony XM3s but you can also go for the Sony CH710s if you’re on a budget. Noise cancelling sounds too good to be true but it worked like a charm especially during the entire work from home period.
For white noise you can use the forest app. Spotify might have some playlists too.
