The feeling of ‘Blah’ - and Harry Potter

Last week at work, I came across an article on Yammer.

I skimmed through, got the gist and under my breath said “meh”.

As I was reading a weekly newsletter I subscribe to, I saw the article again.

A YouTuber John Fish in his recent video referenced the article.

I gave in. Clearly, this article was viral and I read it. That’s it. No takeaway from it. If you’re feeling ‘blah’ at this moment like you can read the article here.

We’ve crossed a year now and it’s obvious. We’re trying really hard to do our best - at work, at school, with our businesses.

I wish I could say the pandemic is almost over but I’ve given up predicting at this point.

This feeling of discomfort led me to chase something familiar - nostalgia.

I’ve been watching the Harry Potter series every Sunday (and an episode of a sitcom I’ve already seen during the week).
Personally, revisiting the Harry Potter films gives a warm fuzzy feeling of hope, comfort and happiness.

Listening to Hedwig’s theme, seeing the quidditch grounds and Hogwarts with its glorious architecture is awe inducing. It just lights me up.

I’m a Ravenclaw in case you’re wondering.

If you’re having a hard time during the pandemic, you could try doing something similar. Plan your weekends by including your favourite movies or shows and maybe a tub of icecream. It’s been helping my case of the ‘blah’ and maybe it’ll help you too.

Like Albus Dumbledore said, “Happiness can be found in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light”.
