3 Reasons Richard P. Feynman Is An Identity Role Model

Richard P. Feynman is an interesting personality (even outside his contributions to science). Some of his quotes sum it up quite well and 3 really stand out to me.

As someone trying to pursue different things these are what I model my identity around (or am in the progress of). They could help you too πŸ˜„

β€œYou have no responsibility to live up to what other people think you ought to accomplish. I have no responsibility to be like they expect me to be. It's their mistake, not my failing.”

There's a fine line between being ignorant and not letting the judgement of others limit you from doing what you truly want to accomplish. It's easier to do things your own way. You can be kind and not be a people pleaser.

β€œI learned very early the difference between knowing the name of something and knowing something.”

Unlike Feynman, I learned this recently. Though it's definitely early in the larger scheme of things. Jargons are useful to communicate but the absence of underlying knowledge will get you nowhere.

β€œThe first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest person to fool.”

It's hard to understand sometimes, when you're fooling yourself but this quote is a great reminder that you can be.

If you've had any limiting beliefs holding you back all this time, just remember:

β€œAll the time you're saying to yourself, 'I could do that, but I won't,' β€” which is just another way of saying that you can't.”
